Project description:
The Bloso sports hall in Herentals has been renovated in 2 phases to make it suitable for both competition and multipurpose use for the many sports camps and sport activities by schools.
Before the first phase started, a feasibility study was carried out for the energetic optimization of the building.
The most important intervention was upgrading the building envelope in order to minimize energy consumption.
Afterwards, the first renovation phase started in which the sports hall and the ‘gallery’ above the sports hall were taken care off. The sports hall received new heating, ventilation and energy-efficient lighting.
In addition, Bloso independently installed a new sports floor and new extendable stands with seating for 1,200 people.
In the second phase, the dressing rooms, multipurpose rooms and the staff area were renovated.
Techniques phase 1:
For the daily use of the sports hall, a new ventilation system was provided with a fresh air handling unit by CO² measurement and heat recovery with a heat recovery wheel. The air inlet pattern changes according to the operating mode of the group between heating or free cooling.
During sports events with spectators, pulsation and extraction groups are added to provide everyone with fresh air.
The speed of this is regulated by CO² measurement.
A quick warm function is provided on the pulsation groups to heat up the sports hall in no time.
The lighting was also completely renewed, with LED luminaires. Each fixture is dimmable via KNX control, so you can adjust the lighting level for each competition. For fire safety, a new fire control center has been installed with linear optical detectors.
