Project description:

A fallback data center with Tier 2+ classification was built for AZ Groeninge in Kortrijk.

The project includes 2 cold aisles with 35 racks in total.

The area was used optimally by setting up a private zone for servers and storage for personal use and a secure zone for private colocation.

The data center was then divided into specific zones, each optimized based on the cooling needs of the installed equipment. In collaboration with the client, a high level of implementation of the EU Code of Conduct for data centers was achieved.  This close collaboration with the building and IT departments resulted in a 30% reduction in cooling energy demand compared to a standard installation.

The limited slab-to-slab dimensions imposed a good coordination of all mechanical, electrical, data and gaseous fire suppression installations in the raised floor. The use of in-row coolers allowed to maximize the space above the raised floor. Redundant N+1 in-row coolers were installed in the cold aisles to maintain the tier level.

For the gaseous fire suppression an environmental friendly gas was chosen with GWP=1 ODP=0.

The complete DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) was integrated in the existing building management system of the main site of the client.
