Project description:

When you get older, it is not always easy to continue living independently. This project, which is linked to the new ‘De Zathe’ residential care centre, offers 36 flats that are specifically aimed at senior citizens and their needs by providing supporting functions. In addition, there are 3 private houses and an underground car park.

By combining the playful volumes, a varied range of courtyards and residences is created that can enjoy the sunlight optimally in both summer and winter. At the centre of the development is a covered walkway that links all the residences and brings circulation together. This succession of areas and courtyards invites spontaneous encounters, which increases the sense of solidarity and generates social control. The covered promenade is also an ideal way to provide customised care in an efficient but discreet manner.

The park in the middle of the area serves as a central connecting element between care flats, homes and the residential care centre. The park allows for larger, communal activities to take place in connection with the meeting area and brings tranquillity and greenery to the inner area.

The green card was extended to the water management, by using rainwater and rainwater recovery for the toilets. Part of the rainwater is infiltrated into the soil. For the production of hot water, solar collectors were chosen that convert sunlight into heat.

The building is heated by condensing gas boilers, which are highly efficient and require little maintenance.

Finally, the bedrooms were connected to the demand-controlled ventilation system C. For this, the bedrooms are connected to the unit by means of a plenum (several bedrooms) and an additional sound absorber. As a result, active ventilation is provided in the bedrooms during the night.

The lighting around the building is based on LED technology.
