This new Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Arts & Sciences, Education CEPS/ Instead (Centre for Population, Poverty and Policy socio-economic) building for the University of Luxembourg includes conference rooms, offices, a library and a media library.
The building has two main functions, namely special education and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. Teaching activities are limited to research seminars for master students. They will take place in seminar rooms and rooms for practical work. Research activities aim to analyze major and support human society in its development. Part of the research is carried out in offices while part takes place in special laboratories such as multimedia laboratories or laboratories observation, cognition and phonetics. The building will have a capacity of 850 jobs. A bookstore and a cafe open to the public
The building is equipped with LTH (low temperature heating) radiators, climate beams in the auditorium that are connected to a local thermal net for cooling and heating. The meeting rooms are equipped with indirect adiabatic cooling. NO-Break Emergency generators safeguards the redundant data center located at the underground levels.
Other sustainable features such as extensive insulation, triple glazing, controlled sunscreen shutters and presence detector lighting all assist in reducing operational energy costs.
